phuul: flower (masculine)

To see the list of all the words with my twist on remembering their gender please visit Is it a HE or a SHE.

7. Phool: flower (masculine)

Tip To Remember: One of the main offerings to God in a Hindu temple is flowers. And for reasons unknown to me; we all most often address God as ‘He’. He is loving and merciful. He is my shepherd and will take care of me.

That’s one way to remember that this offering to God is classified as masculine in Hindi. Thus, ‘phool’ flower is categorized as masculine. Phool is a ‘HE’

Sentence Formation:

(1) ye baRaa phool  hai.                              This is a big flower.

(2) ye meraa manpasand phool hai.           This is my favorite flower.

(3)  kyaa aapne kaalaa phuul dekhaa hai?               Have you seen a black flower?
